3 Months - 5 years
Bright Gems Nursery prides itself in creating a happy safe, caring and stimulating environment. We provide a solid foundation for early childhood development and follow the Early Years Curriculum.
The nursery features three spacious rooms with natural furnishings and carefully selected resources. The calming environment offers children an exclusive space to flourish and develop into confident, creative, and curious learners. Complementing this is our incredible outdoor garden giving children the chance to learn and explore the outdoor environment through active play and discovery.
Our Aims & Values
The nursery aims to help children to become successful independent learners, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society. The high quality and nurturing environment of the Nursery will be responsive to the needs and abilities of each child working in partnership with parents and carers.
Vision and Ethos
-
We place a strong emphasis on the desire to help all children reach their individual potential. Our planning and structure wholly support and reflect the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework ensuring that the individual child and their family is at the centre of all learning and development.
Learning opportunities are designed, implemented and reviewed regularly so that the experiences offered provide children a chance to learn and consolidate new skills. Key to this is assessment and evaluation of every child’s learning needs so they can be supported and encouraged appropriately. We ensure that all parents and carers are part of this process so that we are working together to best support every child.
Children learn best when they are happy, relaxed and playing. Delivering the curriculum while the children are engaged in play helps foster a genuine curiosity and love of learning. All play is conducted in a safe, child-centred environment under the guidance of qualified practitioners who are sympathetic to the care and educational needs of the children.
We aim to make the transition between home and nursery as easy as possible by fully engaging with parents and carers at every stage of their child’s journey. By building on these good relationships we hope to foster good social skills and a growing independence in the children.
We recognise that an appropriate and positive nursery experience will help children feel confident about the challenges that lie ahead.
-
Bright Gems Nursery actively promotes the essential values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect of the different faiths and beliefs. These are shown by our children learning right from wrong, learning to take turns and share, challenging negative views and stereotypes. We do not promote views or theories that are contrary to established scientific or historical evidence and explanations.
At the Nursery we provide a welcoming atmosphere and understand that all families are important and should be made to feel welcome and valued at all times. We respect the diversity of families and the contribution they can bring to a child’s learning and development.
-
We aim to promote an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and prejudice and discrimination are challenged through positive reinforcement. We are committed to promoting an environment where everyone receives equal opportunities. We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, sexuality, class, family status/background, disability, learning difficulty, ability, ethnicity, culture, religion or home language.
-
At Bright Gems Nursery we aim to provide an inclusive environment that values the individuality of all children in line with our Equal Opportunities Policy. Our Nursery has a SEN Co-ordinator (SENCO) whose role is to provide support for any children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The SENCO is named on the parents’ notice board.
-
We believe that children and parents/carers are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt, careful attention to their needs and wishes. It is always encouraging when a parent/carer compliments us or a member of our staff for something we have done well. Equally it is important that parents are able to inform us of any improvements that could be made to the service we provide.
“Creative education sparks a lifelong curiosity in children.”
— Chris, Founder of Bright Gems Nursery
